About Lawyer

Kiran Birdi is litigation counsel at Aviva’s Calgary office. She joined Aviva Trial Lawyers in May 2021. Prior to joining Aviva, Kiran was a partner at Scott Venturo Rudakoff LLP.  Her primary area of practice is general insurance defence litigation with a focus on motor vehicle collisions, personal injury, and premises liability. She also practiced in the areas of employment law, wrongful termination and human rights complaints prior to joining Aviva Trial Lawyers.

Kiran received her undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary in 2005, after which she worked in various roles for a regional not-for-profit in Calgary assisting immigrant women and their families with settlement and integration programs. In 2010, she obtained her LLB from the University of Alberta. She was called to the bar in Alberta 2011. She later returned to her roots and went on to sit on the Board of Directors of the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA) from 2013 to 2015.  Kiran has appeared before the provincial courts in Alberta, as well as the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench.
