About Lawyer

Matti Thurlin is a Junior Counsel at the Toronto office. He joined Aviva Trial Lawyers in 2022. Prior to this, he articled and summered at a full-service Bay St. firm. His area of practice is insurance defense litigation. Matti received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in philosophy, with First-Class Honours, from the University of Alberta. He then obtained a Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in philosophy from Osgoode Hall Law School/York University in 2021 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2022. He has received numerous academic awards and is published in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry.

Outside of work, Matti loves art, photography, and attempting to improve his cooking skills from “amateur” to less obviously so
